Moving out – part 2
Second part will be English this time.
Next day, I called Sakura House about the situation. Speaking with Gaku, I sort of felt the discomfort in his speaking, and quickly picked up on the fact that they are probably sub-renting the location. It ended up being quite fine in the end – there were two private rooms available on the upper floor of the same building, and they would make the next two months in that location the same price than it was in the dormitory.
Not a bad turn of event, really.
Then it is settled; I should move my things by Saturday night – I will receive the key on the same day, which is fine considering the small amount of belongings there is to move.
Next day, training; watching, not doing. Quite an annoying experience over time – not to be able to train not because of pain, but strictly because of physical condition. I would probably have preferred pain, but let’s not throw ourselves into stupid wishful thinking – in fact, it could have been much worse. Seeing that I could not train, Kondo-sensei tells me to show up at a clinic near the station – the one I have been going to a few months ago. I am still going when there is time now, it does help a bit. And they are really friendly people, so I enjoy it very much there.
Saturday arrives, it is moving time. Mayuko, from Sakura House, arrives with the final paperwork and the key. Since it is still morning, I make some coffee for all of us (Matt, my room mate, is packing his things in the meantime). Everything is very relaxed, having a few laughs, then she gives me the key to the new room. After an hour or so, before leaving, she tells us that Gaku (which I had met previously), and some other people which takes care of the premisises in the area would like to organize some sort of party soon.
In any cases, I move my stuff to my new room. Quite a happy surprise – it is quite big (in regards to what I need), nice windows, and good natural light. It was so much of a difference that I woke up naturally (i.e., without a clock) at 8AM, replenished. I guess things end up happening for a reason…
During the week, I receive an email from Gaku, Tomoya and Mayuko – a small party will be held in a guesthouse in the area. Since it is on Saturday, and that I have to train in Iaido, I let them know that I’ll try to join in after, but that it may be late – they were planning to finish the event at around 10PM, since some of the people had to go back to Yokohama (far south) and Machida (far west).
Saturday comes. My knee is not fixed yet, so I decide to go to training to watch. Unfortunately, my teacher had to go to the hospital for his stomach, so there was not much of any training anyway. I discussed a bit with Sekine-sempai in regards to what I could practice at home. Around that time, I receive a call from Sakura House.
I take that as my cue, and decide to leave after a while, thanking Sekine-sempai about the practice tips.
I finally ended up being one of the first arrived – I joined Mayuko and Yasuo at the train station, and we waited for a few people before going.
There were quite a few people from the different guesthouses; Swedish, Chinese, Taiwanese, and that silly Canadian (yes – me). I started to speak a bit more with Yasuo from Sakura House for the first time. After a while, we start to talk about what we do for work – of course, he is the Webmaster for Sakura House. I say of course, because to this point, coincidences like this have stopped to surprise me – I think they are just made to happen.
10 o’clock rings. Since going home seems to be out of the way, we all decide to go for karaoke. After some cleaning, we head to Kinshicho (which is the area where I stay), and go to karaoke, then some food. Then, few hours later, home we went, after many good laughs, quite some fun, and some new friends.
My knee is not fixed yet, but I give it time. The new room is fresh, and has a nice view.
